Odyssey to Self is a captivating short film born from the creative vision of pianist and composer Orson Claeys. The short film is produced by Het Offensief, a young production house founded by Leon Hanssensand Loïc Meulenberg. Lisa Coene, currently studying at KASK Gent, takes on the role of director in this film. This project distinguishes itself through its unique approach, where the creative process began with composing the music, contrary to the usual procedure in filmmaking.
The story is rooted in the theme of self-reflection. When a young man returns to his childhood home after the recent death of his mother, he is overwhelmed by memories and grief. Unable to confront his emotions, he runs away. Soon he realizes that true escape from the past does not lie in running away, but rather in facing it head-on.
This movie is a collaboration between music and visuals, where two worlds come together and complement each other.
